Welcome to the Portal Support Page!


The Portal Support page provides helpful tips and resources to assist you in resolving Portal related issues and to ensure your PC has the necessary requirements for the Portal to function correctly. Please call the Help Desk at 214.456.4636 if you need additional assistance.

 

The Portal Support page contains support tools described herein. Start by following the Test My System instructions.  After you have verified that your system meets the minimum requirements, you will need to click on the Home tab in the upper left corner to log into Children's Portal.

  • Test My System: Click on the System Check link, then click on the Test My System link to test your local PC for necessary system requirements.
    • Requirements shown on the Test My System page:
      • Adobe PDF Detection
      • Java Detection
      • Pop Up Blocker Detection
      • Web Browser Detection
    • Color Code Key for Requirements:
      • Green Flag: This means your PC is configured correctly. No action is required.
      • Yellow Flag: This means that if you are running Firefox browser, you need to verify that Java is enabled on your PC.
      • Red Flag: This means that your PC is not configured correctly. Please follow the instructions provided that will be displayed with the respective requirement being tested.
  • Pop-Up Instructions: Click on the System Check link, then on the Pop-Up Instructions link for instructions to allow Pop-Ups from *.childrens.com
  • MAC Printer Setup Instructions: Click on the System Check link, then the MAC Printer Setup Instructions link to set up a local printer on a MAC computer to print from Children's Portal.

  • Java Settings Instructions: Click on the System Check link, then the Java Settings Instructions link to increase Java Runtime Environment memory settings that will allow you to work in applications for long periods of time when you log into the Children's Portal.
  • Adobe: Click on the Downloads link, and then click on the Adobe link to download the latest version of Adobe Reader. If the Adobe PDF Reader Detection test from the previous Test My System step appeared with a green flag, you do not need to perform this step.
  • Java: Click on the Downloads link, and then click on the Java link to test your Java version. Then scroll down to the middle of the page.  If Java is working a message will appear stating, "Your Java is Working."  If you don't see this message, please install java by clicking on the Downloads link at the top of the Java downloads page.


  • Supported Web Browsers: Click on the Downloads link on this page, then click the Web Browsers link to download a supported Web browser.
  • Screen Capture Utility: Click on the Tools link, then click on the Screen Capture Utility link to download a utility that provides the ability to screen print within java applications.
  • Remote Assistance: This tool allows you to initiate a screen sharing session if you need that enables a member of our support team to view your desktop and share control of your mouse and keyboard to get you on your way to a solution. This option requires a call to the Help Desk. Click on the Tools link, then click on the Remote Assistance link for more information.
  • My Password: This tool allows you to change your password.  Click on the Tools link, and then My Password link, and then follow the instructions on that page.
